Artificial Intelligence Profiling Act (HB2644)

The bill seeks to provide Washingtonians with important privacy protections against use of AI technology. Specifically, the Act would prohibit the use of artificial intelligence-based profiling in "places of public resort, accommodation, assemblage, or amusement". Moreover, similar to Europe's GDPR, the Act would would prohibit the use of AI-enabled profiling to make decisions that produce legal effects or similarly significant effects. Finally, it would provide consumer protection remedies and a private right of action for individuals impacted by artificial intelligence-enabled profiling technology.
